Stamford's poor get help from Bridgeport, Danbury after NEON collapse

Until a permanent provider can be found next year, local nonprofits and charities from Bridgeport and Danbury have banded together to provide heating assistance and other programs to residents who depended on the now-defunct anti-poverty agency NEON/CTE . David Dearborn , a spokesman for the state Department of Social Services , said on Friday that a request for proposals has been issued to create a community action agency for Stamford that would step into the void created when NEON surrendered its status as such an agency.
