The state Bond Commission approved an additional $470,000 in funding for Abbott Tech in Danbury as well as an additional $30,000 for a new plasma cutter on Wednesday, Nov. 19. The $470,000 is Abbott Tech's portion of a $5 million disbursement for the continued expansion of the Connecticut Technical High School System's manufacturing programs, as well as funds for a new extended-hours program. "Expanding the technical high schools' manufacturing programs is a smart investment that will provide state-of-the-art training for students and provide Connecticut employers with highly skilled workers," Gov. Dannel P. Malloy said in a statement.
