On the eve of his regular-season debut as Danbury High School's new head football coach, Mark Ecke was the guest of honor at a banquet hosted by the Danbury Exchange Club Thursday night. Ecke has been hired to breathe new life into a once-mighty program that has fallen on hard times, and as he addressed the audience of 100 or so people at the Amerigo Vespucci Lodge -- an audience which included several of Danbury High School's gridiron heroes from decades past -- he spoke of the need to change the football culture at the school in order to start building the Hatters back to their position of prominence.
