Economists now blind to area job growth trends

A recent change by federal labor officials has some economists concerned they will no longer be able to provide an accurate picture of regional employment trends. As part of a re-examination of labor market areas undertaken by the federal Bureau of Labor Statistics conducted every 10 years, the Danbury labor market was changed to include Newtown, which was formerly part of the Bridgeport-Stamford labor market area.
