Most areas of Fairfield County are associated with wealthy residents and exorbitant house prices, but the New York Times recently visited Danbury and hailed it as a bastion of real estate affordability. The Times noted Danbury's lower taxes, about 25 percent lower than the rest of the county, and still-recovering housing market as primary reasons for the city's relative value.
