Betsy Palmer, 88, whose early career ranged from serious theater to game shows but who achieved her greatest fame as a slasher and ax murderer in Friday the 13th, died Friday at a hospice near her home in Danbury, Conn. Although she later attended many horror-film conventions, she told interviewers that she hated the script.
