On the night of March 3, 2013, Clifford Banthin of Goodridge Road, Redding, an avid hunter who, police said, was depressed and had spent hours drinking in the nearby Redding Roadhouse, attracted authorities from throughout the region after his wife reported that he fired a gun into a ceiling of their home. Bethel and Easton police responded, as well as Danbury authorities who brought in an emergency services unit armored personnel carrier.
